Why and How

Why RED

Global research suggests that families with incomes below poverty lines are less likely to read every day. According to the National Center for Education Statistics (NCES), a family member read to only 53% of children aged three to five. According to research, “One in six children who are not reading proficiently in the third grade do not graduate from high school on time, a rate four times greater than that for proficient readers”. This is even many times higher among underprivileged families and among rural households. There is also research that supports the challenges children with disability, cancer or any other illness face with regards to reading. Reading increases children exposure to language, fosters the development of literacy skills, reading comprehension, vocabulary and shared positive attitude between families. Finally, Pew Research Center conducted a survey among US adults, which suggests 90% of the public believe the most important skill required for success is reading and communication. Our Approach results in: Stronger Relationships ,Emotional Spark, Global Opportunities and Perspective, Academic Excellence, Language Mastery, Enhanced Leadership Skills, Effective Communication Skills, Multisensory Integration, Increased Vocabulary

How RED

We partner with families, educators, book publishers, distributors and other partners to efficiently deliver literacy to many kids around the globe. We do this effectively through our signature RED Lending Library coupled with RED shows and RED Knowledge Bank.

Measure RED

RED measures how its outreach is impacting kid’s literacy through its RED and KID Barometer.
The RED Barometer measures RED outreach in terms of number of children reached, number of books distributed or downloaded, number of participating organizations, number of resource partners or volunteers whereas the KID Barometer measures reading interest linked to reading frequency, vocabulary learned, family engagement and kids performance.
